Man airlifted after gate post falls on him near Appleby

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to a field near Appleby, Cumbria, at 3.45pm yesterday, where a man had suffered an open fracture to his leg after a concrete gate post fell on top of him.

The man was assessed and treated by the GNAAS doctor-led trauma team before being flown to Newcastle’s RVI within 25 minutes.
